CORAL SPRINGS — Kobe Farrish led Deerfield Beach to its first District 11-8A win of season, as the Bucks topped Taravella 14-7 on Thursday.
The Bucks got down to the Taravella 20-yard line on the first drive of the game. But Deerfield Beach fumbled the ball and the Trojans (1-4, 0-2) recovered at their 20.
Deerfield Beach (3-3, 1-2) responded on its next possession. Farrish had carries on five of the six plays of the 64-yard scoring drive. His one-yard touchdown run gave Deerfield Beach the lead with 2:15 left in the first quarter. He finished with 22 carries for 143 yards.
Taravella tied the game 7-7 with an 80-yard drive early in the second quarter that ended with a Tyler Hunter 1-yard touchdown run.
The tie only lasted a minute as Antonio Cartagena caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from Jeffrey Joseph.
The Trojans were at the Deerfield Beach 21-yard line when the game was delayed due to lightning. Play resumed 40 minutes later and the drive ended with an incomplete pass in the end zone on fourth down. The Trojans’ last possession ended deep in their own territory.
