‘Filter Bandit’ robs bank in Coral Springs, FBI says

The notorious bank robber the FBI has dubbed the “Filter Bandit” has struck again, the bureau said.

According to authorities, the robber, who typically wears a dust filter mask, took money from SunTrust bank, 9501 Wiles Road, Friday afternoon.

The armed man went inside the bank at 5:37 p.m. and demanded money from a bank employee. The amount of money taken was not released.

Customers were inside the bank, but no shots were fired and no injuries were reported, agents said.

Sometimes he forces customers and employees to get on the floor. He should be considered armed and dangerous, agents have said.

The Filter Bandit was last seen in July, when he crashed a silver Volkswagen Beetle while leaving a TD Bank branch in Tamarac, agents said. After the crash, the robber got out, threatened the other driver with a gun, got back into his car and left the area.

Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the robber to call the FBI at 754-703-2000 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
