Kitchen fire damages Coral Springs home

A kitchen fire put a family out of its home in the 9800 block of Northwest 54th Place on Saturday night.

Coral Springs firefighters were called to the home at 6:12 p.m., and had the fire under control by 6:37 p.m., said Coral Springs Fire Department Division Chief Mike Moser.

Damage was confined mostly to the kitchen; no one was hurt. The family was able to get three dogs and one cat out of the house. One cat remained missing late Saturday, Moser said.

Andrea Allison, who lives in the home with her children, ages 3 to 13, said she left briefly to get Chinese food for dinner when the fire broke out. She said the family will likely be staying with her mother.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Moser said.
