In Tuesday’s City Commission race, the victor also had the biggest war chest.
Voters elected Christine Hunschofsky to the City Commission’s District 2 seat in a special election Tuesday.
With seven precincts reporting, Hunschofsky received 786 votes, while Nancy Schwamb Robeson received 143.
Schwamb Robeson reported contributions of $1,425, but only itemized a $200 contribution from a person with the same last name. Her campaign reports show she only spent money on postcards and a city-qualifying fee.
But Hunschofsky raised about $36,000, city records show, and she spent thousands on T-shirts, signs, and three rounds of mailers.
Among her contributors: attorneys and lobbyists Ruden McClosky, $500; the firefighters union, $500; Bergeron LLC, $500; Hunter’s Run Equestrian Center, $500; Standard Pacific of South Florida builders, $500; Waste Management, $500; Toll Brothers, Inc., builders, $500; and $2,000 from four divisions of NRNS Acquisition, a company owned by Parkland resident Howard Dvorkin, according to the state Division of Corporations.
