Encouraged by the success of previous joint ventures, six chambers of commerce in northwest Broward are coming together for an event that showcases businesses in the region.
The joint chamber networking showcase at JM Lexus in Margate will bring together businesses in Tamarac, Coral Springs, Margate, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach.
The other chambers have worked together on joint events previously, but Deerfield Beach is joining the fray for the first time.
“Deerfield Beach has got a nice and active chamber,” said Peter Mason, Tamarac Chamber of Commerce executive director. “It is good to have them on board. We will now be covering all of north Broward. We want to do more such events in the future. Coming together gives us a lot of strength.”
The practice of chambers in the region joining hands for events started in 2012, soon after the economy started showing signs of coming back after the recession.
“Our members really appreciate the additional exposure that a joint event gives them,” said Cindy Brief, Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce president. “We are happy to do what is best for them. Joint events offer a much wider reach, and that is something that all businesses are looking for.”
More than 500 people are expected to attend the event.
“We used to do our own chamber expo, but our members say this is more beneficial,” said Brief. “It would bring in more money if we did it on our own, but we are here to do what our members want us to do.”
The event is being held at JM Lexus for the third year.
“There will be 100 expo tables at the event; our chamber will take 19,” Mason said. “Admission to the event is free. There will be raffles and prizes. I am sure we will have a great turnout. “
The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at JM Lexus, 5350 Sample Road in Margate.
