A 28-year-old Sunrise woman was killed early Saturday on the Sawgrass Expressway when her vehicle overturned.
Ashley Kaye Hess was not wearing a seatbelt as she drove her Chevrolet pickup south on the expressway just south of Atlantic Boulevard around 3:30 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol report says. The truck inexplicably left the roadway on the west shoulder, veered across the southbound lanes, entered the median and flipped over before it came to rest in the northbound lanes, the report says.
Hess was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tests on whether alcohol was involved are pending. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, the report said.
