Learn about local flora an fauna during Weekly Naturalist-led Tours of northern Broward County’s natural areas.
The free tours last about one hour each and are organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. Participants should bring bottled water and wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen.
The following locations offer tours at least once each month. Saw Palmetto Natural Area, 4950 NW 71st Place in Coconut Creek — Every Monday at 3:30 p.m. Tall Cypress Natural Area, 3700 Turtle Run Blvd. in Coral Springs — First and third Tuesdays of the month at 10 a.m. Woodmont Natural Area, 7250 NW 80th Ave. in Tamarac — Second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 10 a.m. Hillsboro Pineland Natural Area, 5591 NW 74th Place in Coconut Creek — First Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. Helene Klein Pineland Preserve, 4701 W. Hillsboro Blvd. in Coconut Creek — Second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at noon. West Creek Pineland Natural Area, 4900 W. Hillsboro Blvd. in Coconut Creek — Third Wednesday of the month at noon. Harbin Butterfly and Bird Sanctuary at Quiet Water Park, 401 S. Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach — Every Thursday at 10 a.m. Highlands Scrub Natural Area, 4050 N.
